I enjoyed reading the book Allies by Alan Gratz as it followed the life of a young solider enrolled in the United States Army. The solider only got into the army as he lied about his birthday but is now unsure of his decisions. This book takes place during World War 2 and shows the challenges that he had to face. Along with him, other characters such as a medic named Henry and a spy named Samira have to face tough decisions and endure a lot of fear. Overall, this book had a lot of plot twists and turns to keep readers interested in the book. This book is also a very mature read and deals with things such as violence, world war, death, and so much more.
I would not recommend this book to everyone as I felt that it was hard to follow at times. The book lacked details in my opinion which made it hard for me to paint a picture. On the other hand, one thing that I really liked about the book was that it was historical fiction and it had to do with World War 2. I think that if people had more knowledge of the events during the World War then this book would be a lot more understanding to readers. Overall, I did not really enjoy reading this book as it was a very complicated plot.
