Samantha has OCD, which is a misunderstood disorder in society — much like many other mental disorders. She is “popular” and she has really overwhelming thoughts. When she realizes that high school will change her friends and the way that she perceives the world will change, her overwhelming thoughts become more and more intrusive. She begins to think about her past and begins to repeat herself in the book. She meets Caroline and AJ, people from a different friend group and she doesn’t know how vulnerable she should be. At the end, she realizes who her real friends are and how she should express her own mental disorder.
I would recommend this book. It provides a very real and relatable line of thought coming from the character. I am happy that the author is not afraid to repeat themselves to emphasize the level of obsessiveness that the main character Samantha has when she goes through her line of thinking.
