This book is a thought provoking realistic novel that is applicable and relatable as the human races fear of disaster. Many ‘preppers’ in modern society follow similar practices in response to global threats. Even more prevalent in the world today is the threat of nuclear and foreign threats. The human race as an entire world is rather vulnerable to each other as we are split into parts posed against each other. Human nature may be to fight and take sides but as a result humans also have grown to become fearful of disease, war and death. Ironically harming others is often a result of our innate fear of death which splits us into sides. Overall fallout follows the story of a prepped family who in result to fear of global nuclear war digs and establishes a fallout shelter or underground safety shelter in case of the a nuclear disaster. The neighborhood although once resenting this family’s concern and preparation end up regretting their negative inquiry’s and own negligence once the war begins and the survivors are only those who can stay in the fallout shelter made by Scott’s dad.
I highly recommend this book as it shows we should always be aware and thoughtful before we insult or disregard other people and their actions. The book teaches readers to be kind, honest and aware that we are ignorant and need to recognize our faults as no one can predict the future and what it may bring. You must keep your mind open and treat everyone with kindness as while recognizing the true meaning and important things in life.
