(The Extraordinaries #2)
This book is a sequel to TJ Klune’s “The Extraordinaries.” It once again follows a teenager named Nick who has found himself befriending—and even dating—extraordinaries, people with superpowers. The stakes have increased from the previous book, and Nick has to find a way to navigate this increasingly intense world without powers of his own. It’s a blend of adventure, romance, and comedy.
If you read TJ Klune’s first book in this series then absolutely. It is an excellent sequel: it expands on world building, has natural character growth, and is effortlessly entertaining. However, the novel’s plot meandered from time to time. As well, the discussion of relevant and painful subjects could disrupt a book that most read simply for light hearted and engaging entertainment. Nonetheless, it leaves the reader engaged.
