This is a story about a thirteen year old girl named Koly who lives in India. In India, tradition is very important and it influences everything in their lives. Therefore, Kody has her marriage arranged for her when she is thirteen years old. Once she’s married, she has to go live with her husband’s family, who are cruel to her, making her work hard. Unfortunately, she didn’t know that her new husband was really sick and he dies. Now, as a widow, Kody is undesirable. However, she ends up meeting Raji, a rickshaw driver, who cares a lot about her.
I would recommend this book. It’s an interesting story and you can learn about traditions in India.
