In 1943 during WWII, Annemarie Johansen is 10 years old and lives in Copenhagen, Denmark, which the Nazis had occupied. Annemarie’s best friend Ellen is Jewish and Ellen and her family had to escape. Annemarie’s uncle helps them by hiding them in his boat and takes them to Sweden.
I would recommend this book. It is compelling and you won’t be able to put the book down until you find out what happens.
