(Renegades #1)
This book has the clashes between villains and heroes that have special powers. The story starts off in Nova’s perspective, who has powers that can put people to sleep. When she’s very young, her entire family is killed by gang members. Being frustrated about the heroes not being able to save her family, when they’ve promised to protect their citizens. Nova is then set to destroy the heroes by deceit. In order to do that, she will need to be accepted as a heroine to “help” the city. There’s also Adrian, who has a special power to make drawings to life. He starts to “live a private life,” trying to protect people from villains. Will they be friends or foes, or something even more?
I would absolutely recommend this book. This book combined superpowers so phenomenally in my opinion and it includes danger and secret identities. The author used the two POVs so well and I loved hearing their thoughts. As I’m sure everyone has once in their lives thought about their powers could be turned into reality. Personally, I always thought being a shapeshifter could be very handy if I could have that power. This first book out of three in this series sets off on a journey and ends with a cliff-hanger that instantly wants makes you want to know what happens next in the “relationship” between Nova and Adrian. Will goodness prevail or will evil dominate the city?
