Mackey is a serious basketball player with a big hope of playing professional some day. Coming from a poor family, Mackey always plays hoops at a park in Harlem, New York called Rucker Park. This park is notorious for its talent that it produces and its crazy games that go on. Mackey has pressure on him as he knows he has to win the Rucker Park Tournament for his best friend J.R. who got stabbed at the park by the manager of their own basketball team with Mackey there prior to the tournament. Also, Mackey has to face the dilemma of being involved in a bet in the championship game where he is ordered to play horribly for his own team by the other coach.
I would recommend the book, and I liked it because it is very intense and fun for people who love sports, especially basketball. Also, Rucker Park has its own reputation of being a tough, and scrappy park, so I feel like this book really illustrates its reputation which is interesting to read about.
