This high school romance, set in England, provides us an insight into the point of views of both Mackenzie Holland and Jaz Davies. Both these characters have different backgrounds and difficult home lives. As the title implies, “Stay away from the Hollands,” Mackenzie Holland has always been seen as the villain in everyone’s story; no morals, no friends (except one) and no temperament whatsoever. Jazeline Davies however, is the complete opposite. With her outgoing personality and sunshine persona, one would not expect her life to be hardest in the slightest. She enters Mack’s world and brightens it by offering him friendship which escalates to love in a slow but steady pace.
I would recommend this book to anyone who loves high school romance but wants a break from the clichés. This book is emotionally touching and provides insight to typical recent day stereotypes while also managing to have a light hearted approach. It’s a classic classmates to friends to lovers. I annotated full pages, at some point, because of how cute and beautifully the lines and scenes are written. It does, however, end on a cliffhanger; but the author is said to continue it and make it into a series.
