The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian is about Junior, the main character, who lives on a reservation. In the beginning of the book he transfers schools to a place he does not fit in. Going from poverty to a place filled wealth is a lot to handle for him which makes it even harder for him to fit in. Through the book you see him change so that he is able to relate to the people in his new school and look back at his previous home and be able to relate to them as well.
I would recommend this book. I think that it teaches many lessons, and can teach someone that you don’t always have to fit in right away. It is a more realistic story that I’m sure many people can relate to as many students move places or meet new groups of people. It can show the struggle of either getting completely rejected or having to try your best at all times to fit in.
