This book us about a boy name Junior who lives with his family on a reservation. After making a poor choice, his reservation schoolteacher suggests he transfer to the mostly white public school 22 miles away. Junior faces harassment and is not treated equally. Throughout the span of the book, you learn how Junior adjusts to his new school and how he deals with the ups and downs of his teenage life. Lastly, throughout the book there are cartoons/doodles that are supposed to be drawn by the narrator of the book, Junior. This paints a vivid picture for the reader to help them better understand the story.
I enjoyed this book because it took real-life issues and struggles of a teenager into account throughout the story. I also enjoyed the humor along with the cartoons. These illustrations helped me better understand what the narrator and protagonist, Junior was thinking as events happened. On a side note, this book contains some mature content and language. I would recommend this book to readers who enjoy comedy and realistic fiction.
