Death is the narrator of the novel. Characters Liesel and her brother Werner travel on a train to Munich. Suddenly after the train though her brother Werner dies. Liesel gets foster parents and overtime adjusts to them and gets used to them. Liesel then becomes good friends with a guy named Rudy. Main themes are the power of words and the kind and cruel parts of humanity.
I would recommend this book to anyone that is into history because it talks about Nazi Germany while at the same time not making it all about history. Also, I really enjoyed the other point of view you get in the time of Nazi Germany.
