The Inheritance Games by Jennifer Lynn Barnes is a novel which follows protagonist Avery Kylie Grambs, a senior in high school who is just scraping by after the death of her mom. Avery’s life is changed in an instant once she discovers that Tobias Hawthorne, an eccentric billionaire, has mysteriously left her his entire fortune. Avery has never met, or frankly even heard of Tobias and now she has inherited his entire will. However, there’s a catch. In order to turn her life around and earn the 46.2 billion dollars from Tobias, Avery has to live in the infamous Hawthorne House for a year and play the “Inheritance Games,” all while finding herself and her connection to the Hawthorne family.
I would 100% recommend this book. Avery Grambs is an extremely relatable protagonist as she’s struggling with the stress growing up, teen romance, and also the reason for her inheritance. The story has a captivating love triangle which makes it impossible to put the book down. The Hawthorne brothers are also unique and extremely complex characters; watching them grow over the course of the 6 books is amazing. I have read the entire series more than once, truly a must read.
