The novel follows, Charlie, a withdrawn yet observant fifteen year old boy grappling with two recent deaths. It is a coming of age story of Charlie finding acceptance through his newfound friends, his English teacher, his parents, and himself.
Personally, I would definitely recommend it. Perks of Being a Wallflower is brilliantly written with a captivating plot and well developed characters. I especially loved how each chapter was formulated like a letter addressed to “friend.” In my opinion, it makes the world immersion so much easier. My one concern is that I did not find it memorable or that interesting (hence the lower rating), but that may just be my personal tastes. It doesn’t take a genius to learn that this book is solid.
