Birdie Randolph’s parents have totally restricted her life. Her mom has pressured her to focus on college and grades and nothing else. But when an estranged aunt visits Birdie’s family, Birdie finds solace in this aunt’s relaxed nature. When she falls for a boy with a dangerous past, she knows her parents won’t approve. But there’s a new Birdie in Chicago, one who breaks rules and dates boys behind her parent’s backs.
I do recommend this book. While the style of writing didn’t succeed at making me attached to the characters, I still thought it was a pleasant read. Also, I’m a sucker for a book with a cute romance, and this book definitely had one! While I did feel like the plot twist at the end was a little out of theme with the rest of the book, I was still absorbed in this storyline. This book also had some important messages: it was sex positive, it explained how life is more than than the future, but it’s about living in the present, and this book stressed the importance of family and acceptance. I really enjoyed this book!
