(Wonder #1)
The book Wonder is about a boy named Auggie and his life. Auggie has facial deformities and has had to get multiple surgeries. Auggie has also been homeschooled his whole life, and this will be the first time he is going to public school. When Auggie goes to school, he makes a friend named Jack. Jack and himself hang out and it’s all going well, despite all of the other kids making fun of him. Up until Auggie hears Jack talk bad about him. This lowers Auggie’s self esteem severely and causes him to want to be homeschooled again. There is also another boy named Julian who is Auggie’s biggest bully. On the other hand, Auggie’s sister Olive is also going through things. She feels that her parents barely recognize her because they have always had to take care of Auggie, and her best friend isn’t her best friend anymore and she has no clue what she did to her. She is also going through boy problems and trying to figure herself out. This books had a lot of twists and turns and is very interesting!
I would definitely recommend this book to others. This book portrays the importance in friendship and stepping out of your comfort zone. It also shows how while people can be mean, you shouldn’t let them bring me down. The message of this book is acceptance, resliance, and kindness. I also like how they used the character Olive to show that you never know what’s going on with someone and never to judge them. Overall, I really loved this book and would recommend it to anyone.
